Northern Ireland 0–0 Hungary: a battling point at Windsor

A clean sheet and the better of the first half, but no breakthrough — Northern Ireland stay unbeaten in Nations League Group B2 after a goalless night in Belfast.
Northern Ireland extended their unbeaten start in League B of the UEFA Nations League with a hard-earned goalless draw against Hungary in front of 18,082 at the National Stadium at Windsor Park on Monday night.
First half: so close
The home side had the better of the opening 45 minutes. Patrick Kelly came closest, striking the crossbar and then forcing a save from Hungary goalkeeper Balázs Tóth, while Isaac Price also tested the keeper as the Kop roared them on.
Second half: Hungary push
Hungary grew into the game after the break and enjoyed more of the ball, but clear chances were rare at both ends. Northern Ireland's back line held firm to secure a clean sheet — and a point that keeps them on four from their opening two group games.
What it means
The draw leaves Northern Ireland well placed going into November, when Ukraine visit Windsor Park on the 14th before the trip to Budapest three days later. Tickets for Ukraine are on general sale now, and the Budapest away allocation is open for expressions of interest.
